DECEMBER GOALS

Ok this is the real reason for starting this blog.  I tend to set some lose goals at the beginning of month/year whenever and never really stay on track.  My December goal is fairly simply, reach Platinum Star status playing 9 man STTS and hopefully have a decent month profit wise.  Its probably not the right way to approach it but I have 2 targets.  This is mainly due to December being a fairly busy month with family and work.  I still have the Step 6 PCA ticket to play and it's worth 555 VPPS which helps considerably.  Will likely be my last shot at PCA seat this year so I hope I can bink it :)

Below is my play schedule for the month and also the stakes I'm considering playing with detailed breakdown for daily and monthly total along with what I hope to have profit/game.  I'm considering playing different buyins for a couple reasons.  First for me to reach my daily goals on my play days I need to reach a certain VPP amount.  With having a family, full time job, and not starting till 9:00 each night there will be times I can only stand to play a couple of hours.  Some nights I won't be tired and be able to grind for awhile.  With the varying stakes I should be able to accomplish this mainly by adjusting the amount of tables I will play,around 5 for higher stakes for more concentration & up to 14 for lower stakes for increased volume).  Secondly I would like to get a guage of how I stand with each level stake.  I know it will be a small sample size but hopefully it will at least give me some idea.

Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure Qualifiers

So I went on a Step heater.  Ran 3 - $27 Step 2's into 2 - $700 Step 5's & 1- $2100 Step 6.  I was runnin like mad and even had 9 in row advances at one point.  I basically had $3500 worth of buyin for 3 chances at a PCA trip, the 10 guaranteed and 5 guaranteed $700's on Sunday and a Step 6. 

I ran the $700's yesterday with puke style results.  I was expecting them to be tough fields and they def were.  I busted the 10 guarnteed 102 of 385 never got going.  The puke part was the 5 guaranteed.  206 runners with 8 getting the trip and I bust 10th @%@%^^#$%#@. 

I rode a short stack from about 80 in.  Had a 3 - 8 M the whole time.  Finally got going with 20ish left once the $700 payouts started.  Wasn't  really trying to cash just was absolutely card dead and the ones I got ended with no action.  We played 13 handed for an hour and half with all the shorties building back up till the stacks were 100k to 30k with blinds at 1500/3000.  It was shovefest with very few calls at that point.  I get QQ to hold with 12 to go to grab chip lead. 

Then only hand I regret whole tourney with 11 to go one of the shorties shoves and I got AKo.  I'm sitting second at time and his shove is about half my stack.  I full timebank and call, he has KK and I cant find my A.  I really had a gut feeling that I had him and if I did I'd had big chip lead and also quaranteed a seat.  Anyway got behind trying a few steals then had to shove 33 when I was shortstack.  Obv get 99 call.  542 flop 2 turn and %!@&(# J to whifff 10 outs on river. 

Really made me sick knowing I was right there, $700 buyin back made me feel a lil better.  Still felt good that I could hold my own with the top online pros and also a few world class live players that I was at tables with.  One thing keeping me going is the Step 6 I still have left for one more chance.  Gonna play it after Dec 1 to get the vpps in December.  Goal for next month is 7500 vpps and Platinum Star.  Step 6 is worth 550 vpps so makes for a good start, but more on that later.

Going to use this blog to keep motivated with my monthly poker goals and push myself to be a better player. Seems a little weird putting my thoughts down like this but maybe I will get better with time.
